Description

This is a 11 X 14 Framed Print of the GZ-19 class Goodyear Blimp, Mayflower.
Built in 1959 it was a "new age" for Goodyear ships which incorporated major car and power plant changes and a 132,000 cu. ft. envelope.

The "Mayflower" became the first blimp ever to provide aerial TV coverage of a major sporting event - the Orange Bowl in Miami, FL in 1960.
It was enlarged to 147,300 cu. ft. (GZ-19A type) in 1963.
The "Skytacular" four-color running advertising sign common on today's blimps was developed at Goodyear's Wingfoot Lake Airship Base near Akron, OH. and made its debut on the Mayflower at Indy 500 in 1966. In 1976 The Super Bowl scenes of the movie Black Sunday where shot in Miami, FL using the Mayflower.

This framed print shows the Mayflower on it's mooring mast with a Late 60's muscle car underneath it. I'm not sure but from the grill it might be a Dodge Charger or even a even a Cougar or Thunderbird. Print is in great condition but there are a couple of stains on the print. I didn't notice them until I started to take the photo's. (see last photo)
It measures 15" X 11 1/2" in the frame.
