Whom doesn’t
remember Mark Twain’s intriguing story about everybody’s favorite imps,
Huckleberry Finn, and Tom Sawyer? They were cunning, and sly, but with a
down home charm. The more trouble they seemed to get themselves into the
more we fell in love with them and their escapades. Yet, somehow they
always managed to get themselves exonerated, and back into everyone’s
good graces. Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, were only a couple of
literary characters in the age of Mark Twain that managed to cross the
color barrier with their story lines and still be published. Prior to
the publication of Mark Twain’s unique characters there were very few
that society would accept.
The Abridged Edition was
published by the Whitman Publishing Co., Racine, Wisconsin,
copyright 1955. This particular copy was one
in the many series written by Mark Twain. It is entitled, "Huckleberry
Finn – Tom Sawyer’s Comrade". There is some wear on the corners and
binding, and a bit of discoloration to the book’s pages because of it’s
age, but the book is in good condition overall.
This
would make a wonderful addition to any home library, and great story
characters to pass on to each new generation.
