Description
T his 9 ½ x 6", dark red
hard-covered book, with gold lettering, was published by The American Society for
Metals,
© 1940, 7th Printing 1951. The authors are, George Sachs, Dipl., Ing., D.
Eng., Case School of Applied Science, and Kent R. Van Horn, B.S., M.S., Ph.
D., Aluminum Co. of America. The completed title is: Applied Physical
Metallurgy and the Industrial Processing of Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals and Alloys. (Now
that is a mouthful!). This 550-plus pages book is extensively descriptive in this topic.
Included are: Charts, Tables, Graphs, (b & w) photos and illustrations. The book is in
amazingly new condition almost inside and out! The only thing you will
see is that the former owner wrote in pencil on the inside cover page: "Used In Heat
Treating Course, A.S.M. Detroit 57", and that it had once sat on a
bookshelf but, you have to squint to see even that! Also included is a 3-page paper
insert reprinted from, "Metals and Alloys, Jan. 1937". The subject is: "The
Process and Result of Austenite Transformation at Constant Temperature". It is in
black and white and a small graph is included. It has been quarter-folded, and shows some
of its age, but it is still in good condition! The book, and insert will be a great
addition to any unique collection! |
